Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Health and Social Care
Overview
On this one year course, students will learn the basic concepts of health and social care, including being organised, making healthy snacks, organising and running health events.
Students will also create activities for children and know about creating a safe environment. Through hands-on work experience, students will gain practical experience in developing skills and qualities needed for a career in health and social care.
Course Objectives:
- Understand the foundation skills and qualities needed for Health and Social Care
- Develop skills and qualities needed for Health and Social Care
- Write assignments and demonstrate awareness of a variety of current Health and Social Care topics.
Course Outcomes:
- Students will be able to experience the role of carers in day centres, care homes and schools
- Students will be able to demonstrate caring qualities
- Students will be able to organise themselves and complete assignments that show their knowledge of care.
Key information
Entry Requirements
- 1 GCSE at C grade and a portfolio of D-E grades.
Course Delivery
Over 4 days a week 9:00 – 16:00
Assessment:
Combination of case studies and 1 multiple choice questionnaire (exam)
Grading Criteria:
Pass or Fail
Progression Opportunities
Staying within the college, you could progress to Level 3 Health and Social Care - Principles and Context.
Additional Information
Students will need to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) application at the start of the course. Cost is approximately £40.
