Update on Centre Reviews Outcomes

The Centre Review process has now been completed and all grades have been sent to WJEC.

If you requested a review you will be emailed a response and the outcome by the end of today - Monday 5 July.

There will be another opportunity to appeal once the final grades are published by WJEC on 10 August (A Level) and 12 August (GCSE).

Information on how to do this will be provided with your results on the above dates. You will also be sent information shortly to inform you when and where to collect your results.

Businesses encouraged to enhance staff’s digital skills with fully funded training

Gower College Swansea is encouraging businesses in South West Wales to enrol their staff onto fully funded digital training to ensure they have the skills to take advantage of the latest technologies and tools.

With nearly 40% of the UK’s working population lacking digital skills, the College is urging businesses to sign up staff to their suite of fully-funded work-based learning qualifications to help bridge the skills gaps in this area.

Gower College Swansea supports Carers Week

Carers Week is an annual awareness campaign that celebrates and recognises the vital contribution of the UK’s unpaid carers – supporting family members and friends who are older, have a disability, mental or physical illness or who need extra help as they grow older.

Provisional Centre Determined Grades for WJEC subjects will issue to learners on Wednesday 9 June, both via post and eILP.

The following subjects won’t issue on 9 June, as they come under English regulators and are therefore subject to a different process:

A/AS Electronics
A/AS Music Technology
A/AS Dance
A/AS Geology
A/AS Ancient History
A/AS Classics
Cert and Dip Criminology

Forensics students scoop medals

Forensics students scoop medals

Two Forensic Science students from Gower College Swansea have taken medals at recent SkillsCompetitionWales events.

Cerys Brooks, who won Silver, and Cara Morgan, who won Bronze, are in the first year of their Level 3 BTEC course.

Competing against nine other students from across Wales, they had to analyse evidence at a virtual crime scene and draw an accurate sketch.

We recently caught up with Childhood Studies student, Sophie, who’s just a few months away from graduating from the College with a foundation degree.

With the lifelong aspiration of becoming a primary school teacher, Sophie’s insistence that she did not want to go to university could have prematurely ended that dream, until her Sixth Form had a visit from Gower College Swansea.
