Gower College Swansea seeks new Board member

Gower College Swansea offers a wide range of full time and part time academic and vocational courses on two main and two smaller sites in Swansea and Gorseinon. Students achieve high levels of academic success, with over 900 students progressing to university each year including, in 2014, nine to Oxford and Cambridge. The College employs nearly 1000 staff and has a turnover of £37m.

Gower College Swansea is always interested to hear from high quality individuals who wish to join its Corporation Board. The Corporation is committed to making the College the best college in Wales - dedicated to providing the best leadership and learning experience through the curriculum it offers, providing value for money, providing the best services for employers and the best opportunities for all.

The Corporation is looking especially for someone from the local business community, who is committed to public service. They will be able to offer high-level strategic skills and experience and provide impartial advice, executive monitoring and scrutiny, strategic planning and vision, leadership and direction. This member will join a diverse team who bring to the College a rich mix of experience, views, knowledge and skills and who together make a vital contribution to the College’s continuing development.

Board members are expected to attend six Board meetings each year and around six committee meetings as well as keeping up to date with the life and work of the College through development activities and attendance by invitation to other events. The role is voluntary with no payment although travel expenses will be reimbursed.
