Hairdressing apprentice heads to London Fashion Week

A Hairdressing apprentice from Gorseinon got a taste of the ‘absolutely fabulous’ life at London Fashion Week, thanks to her links with Gower College Swansea.

Lucy Britton, who is studying towards a Level 2 NVQ at the college’s Broadway Centre, has worked full time at the Hair Lounge in Fforestfach for the past year. The owner of the salon, Marc Isaac, is also employed by the college as a tutor / assessor in hairdressing.

Lucy, Marc and the Hair Lounge team have recently returned from London where they took part in Fashion Week, styling models’ hair for the runway shows. They were invited to get involved in LFW after one of Daniel Galvin's stylists at Selfridges saw their work online.

“Lucy was great, assisting us and the stylists from Daniel Galvin with confidence,” says Marc. “It was an amazing experience and one which will look great on her CV.”

“We are really delighted to have Marc on board with us,” says Learning Area Manager Bernie Wilkes. “As a leading employer in Swansea and the owner of an award winning salon, it is fantastic that he is able to give up and coming hairdressing apprentices like Lucy such an amazing opportunity.”
