Students get involved with community agricultural project

Updated 15/05/2015

ILS students at Gower College Swansea have enjoyed an exclusive opportunity to get involved at a new community based project in Ilston on the Gower.

Cae Tan is a community supported agriculture (CSA) initiative which aims to reinvigorate local sustainable food networks by rebuilding the relationships between consumer, farmer and land.

Students on the STTEP programme are taking part in green woodwork sessions and experiencing skills such as splitting oak, small animal care, fire lighting and beekeeping.

"It is a pleasure to have Gower College Swansea students at Cae Tan," says Project Manager Tom O'Kane. "We are delighted to see our project grow and value the links we have developed with the college."

"For students to experience ancient skills and creative outdoor work is a wonderful opportunity," adds lecturer Leah Millinship. "We are very grateful to Cae Tan for offering this opportunity to our students and we hope to develop links for future students too."
