Tales of the stage inspire new students

A former student of Gower College Swansea has returned to the Llwyn y Bryn campus to encourage and motivate new students who are just embarking on their adventures in further education.

Amy Spencer completed a Level 2 and Level 3 course in Art and Design before progressing on to the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design - all at Llwyn y Bryn. She is now enrolled on the BA(Hons) Design for Theatre, Film and Performance course at UCA: University For The Creative Arts where she has designed a variety of props - such as puppets - and costumes for a production of The Tempest. Her current project is designing nine unique, 18th century-inspired costumes for a Razzamatazz Theatre Schools production of Beauty and The Beast.

"Amy talked about her great experiences at Gower College Swansea and how much she loved Llwyn y Bryn both in terms of the confidence and support she gained from the staff and the skills she gained," says lecturer Marilyn Jones. "Our new Level 1 Vocational (Art) students found her enthusiasm really inspiring and enjoyed finding out about the creative potential that is out there for an exciting and diverse career."
