Myfyrwyr yn mwynhau gwibdaith i UDA

Ym mis Mawrth, aeth grŵp o 25 o fyfyrwyr Coleg Gŵyr Abertawe ar daith lwyddiannus i America.

Roedd y myfyrwyr, o gyrsiau Safon UG a Safon Uwch Llywodraeth a Gwleidyddiaeth a Hanes, wedi ymweld â thirnodau addysgol a diwylliannol yn Ninas Efrog Newydd a Washington DC.

“Dwi’n hynod falch o gyfranogiad y myfyrwyr yn ystod yr ymweliad hwn – wnaethon nhw gynrychioli’r Coleg â rhagoriaeth a chymryd diddordeb brwd yn yr amrywiol agweddau ar yr hyn a oedd yn rhaglen ddwys,” meddai Arweinydd Cwricwlwm y Llywodraeth a Gwleidyddiaeth, Scott Evans.

Students enjoy US trip

In March, a group of 25 Gower College Swansea students undertook a successful trip to the USA.

The students, from the AS and A Level Government and Politics and History courses, visited educational and cultural landmarks in New York City and Washington DC.

“I’m incredibly proud of the engagement of the students during this visit – they represented the College with distinction and took a keen interest in the various aspects of what was an intensive itinerary,” says Government and Politics Curriculum Leader, Scott Evans.

Llwyddiant Olympiad Bioleg i fyfyrwyr

Roedd grŵp o fyfyrwyr Safon UG o Goleg Gŵyr Abertawe wedi cymryd rhan yn Olympiad Bioleg Prydain (OBP) yn ddiweddar.

Roedd y myfyrwyr wedi cael canlyniadau gwych, ac roedd un - Rebecca Thompson – wedi ennill medal Arian ac roedd un arall - Edan Reid – wedi ennill medal Efydd.

Yn cystadlu hefyd roedd Kristy Pen, Joel Asigri, Katie Broome, Lanxin Xu, Lewis Crane, Angie Chong, Anisah Uddin, a Marvel Biju.

Biology Olympiad success for students

A group of AS students from Gower College Swansea took part in the recent British Biology Olympiad (BBO).

The students achieved great results, with one - Rebecca Thompson - attaining a Silver medal and another - Edan Reid - achieving Bronze.

Also competing were Kristy Pen, Joel Asigri, Katie Broome, Lanxin Xu, Lewis Crane, Angie Chong, Anisah Uddin, and Marvel Biju.

Mae 12 myfyriwr Safon uwch o Goleg Gŵyr Abertawe wedi cael cynnig lleoedd i astudio ym Mhrifysgol Rhydychen neu Brifysgol Caergrawnt yn 2020.

Mae’r holl fyfyrwyr hyn yn dilyn Rhaglen Rhydgrawnt ar Gampws Gorseinon, sy’n ceisio darparu’r paratoad gorau posibl i fyfyrwyr sy’n bwriadu symud ymlaen i Rydychen, Caergrawnt a phrifysgolion Russell Group eraill.

12 Gower College Swansea students heading to Oxbridge

Twelve A Level students from Gower College Swansea have been offered places to study at Oxford or Cambridge University in 2020.

These students are all following the Oxbridge Programme at the Gorseinon Campus, which aims to provide the best possible preparation for students aiming to progress to Oxford, Cambridge and other Russell Group universities.

Llwyddiant myfyrwyr mewn cystadleuaeth mathemateg

Yn ddiweddar, roedd grŵp o fyfyrwyr Safon Uwch Coleg Gŵyr Abertawe wedi cystadlu yn Her Mathemateg Uwch UKMT, cystadleuaeth dewis lluosog 90 munud ar gyfer dysgwyr o bob rhan o’r DU.

Mae’r Her yn annog rhesymu mathemategol, manylder meddwl a rhuglder wrth ddefnyddio technegau mathemategol sylfaenol i ddatrys problemau diddorol.

Enillodd y myfyrwyr nifer drawiadol o fedalau – roedd wyth wedi ennill Aur, 16 wedi ennill Arian ac roedd 11 wedi ennill Efydd.

Maths competition success for students

Gower College Swansea recently entered a group of A Level students for the UKMT Senior Mathematics Challenge, a 90-minute multiple-choice competition aimed at learners from across the UK.

The Challenge encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems.

The students brought home an impressive medals haul - eight achieved Gold, 16 brought home Silver and a further 11 won Bronze.
