Course Overview

The new A Level Digital Technology course replaces A Level ICT.

This modern qualification enables you to develop an understanding of how innovations in digital technology and the increasing levels of connectivity between them, impact on the lives of users and the wider society. The course is split equally between on-screen exams and practical tasks.

Topics studied include connected systems, AI, user centred design, social media, cyber security and networks. Units covered include:

  • Year 1: On screen exam: Innovation in digital technology
  • Year 1: Creative digital practices task: Project using GameMaker Studio
  • Year 2: On screen exam: Connected systems
  • Year 2: Digital solutions task using RDBMS database systems, scripting languages and SQL

Entry Requirements

A C grade at GSCE mathemetics is essential.

Progression Opportunities
