Overview

This two year course offers an exciting opportunity to get the skills necessary to advance to higher education or gain employment within a wide range of pathways within the creative industries.
  
Areas of study will include: Image Editing, Video, Photography and Website Design 

You will learn about all aspects of the creative process from pre-production to post production. You will be working on productions in practical, theoretical and contextual studies, producing online portfolios and show reels of your work. Students will have the opportunity to visit production studios, specialist careers events, university open days and receive practical workshops, including employability skills. 

The creative industries is one of the fastest growing sectors in the UK and especially Wales, with an annual turnover of over £1.9 billion. It employs over 58,000 people, 52% more than ten years ago. Wales is now widely recognised as a centre for TV and film production. It’s also home to a growing digital technology cluster. They cover a wide range of jobs including Digital Media, Marketing, TV, Film, Advertising and Animation.  
  
This course will support students wising to pursue the following careers: Content Creator, Image Editor, Video Producer, Video Editor, Motion Graphics Producer, Sound Editor, Brand Manager, Sales & Marketing, Photographer, Website Designer, Copy Writer, User Interface Designer, YouTube Influencer.

Key information

Five GCSEs at grade A-C or the Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media Production.

You will also be required to submit a portfolio of artwork at your interview. Mature students with relevant skills or experience will also be considered. An interest in media and creativity is essential

The course is assessed by continuous assessment. Students work on projects, individually or in teams, which are designed to replicate professional media practices. Some projects involve producing media products for a client. Most assignments will be submitted using the online course management system.

Staying with Gower College Swansea, you could progress onto the Foundation Degree in VFX and Motion Graphics 

Further study at university.

There is a studio fee of £25 for this course.
