This one year, full time course provides the learner with the opportunity to experience supported employment while also working towards an ASDAN Certificate in Life Skills. It is designed to help the learner develop the personal and social skills needed for the progression into employment.
Alongside the main qualification, learners will also complete additional units in literacy, numeracy and IT. The course consists of four days' tuition at the Tycoch campus and one day's work experience on the Work Development Programme based at Fforestfach ATC.
During this period, the learners will be introduced to several job options including garden maintenance, community upkeep schemes, catering opportunities and various recycling and environmental projects.
There are no formal entry requirements, however students will be required to attend a course interview and complete an online initial assessment.
There are no set examination assessments, however the ASDAN coursework is assessed by the submission of a portfolio which documents practical activities and experiences supported by written and photographic evidence.
On completion of the course, students can explore the possibilities of further part time work on the ATC Work Development Programme and also be introduced to the various part time courses available within the ILS department.
