Foundation Degree in Sports Development and Management

Course Overview

Duration: Two years

The general focus of this programme is to enable students to gain vocational experience whilst developing an expansive knowledge of sports management issues and concepts within the context of the wider leisure industry environment.

  • Work Placement and Building a Personal Brand for Sustainable Employment

Entry Requirements

A minimum of 48 UCAS points 

 

Course Delivery

Students will also work towards coaching qualifications, a Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification and a safety steward qualification.

Work placement takes place in Year 2 and is 120 hours.

Assessments include phased tests, reports, portfolios, practical activity, work logs, reflective writing and presentations.

Progression Opportunities

The course gives students the relevant skills and abilities for a career in the private, public and voluntary sectors of the sports, leisure, events and health and fitness industries. Alternatively, students can join the final year of the BA (Hons) Sports Management degree programme at the University of  Wales Trinity Saint David.

Accreditation of Prior learning

The University of Wales Trinity Saint David welcomes applications on the basis of prior learning, further details can be found at Academic Office | UWTSD

Tuition fees are £9,000 per year. For academic year 2023-24, students will need to get a tuition fee loan for the full amount.

There may be additional costs associated with this course i.e:

  • travel to and from college, or placement
  • photocopying, stationery and equipment costs (e.g. USB sticks)
  • printing and binding
  • gowns for graduation ceremonies
