Students celebrate fantastic Oxbridge offers

Ten A Level students from Gower College Swansea have been offered places to study at Oxford or Cambridge University in 2024. “We are absolutely delighted with these offers and I’d like to offer my congratulations to these students who have worked so hard to achieve these amazing results,” says the College’s GCS Honours Coordinator, Dr Emma Smith.

Government and Politics students meet First Minister

Students at Gower College Swansea welcomed a very special visitor recently – the First Minister of Wales, Mark Drakeford. Around 60 students, the vast majority of whom are studying on the A Level Government and Politics course, gathered at the Gorseinon Campus to hear the First Minister give a fascinating talk about his life in politics.

The search is on for singing talent!

Gower College Swansea is supporting young talent by sponsoring the 2024 Dunvant Young Singer competition. Past winners of this fantastic competition include actress and singer Connie Fisher, West End performer Hayley Gallivan, and actor Ben Joyce, who is currently starring as Marty McFly in Back to the Future at the Adelphi Theatre in London.

Oxford and Cambridge admissions tests

We are aware that some of our learners experienced significant technical issues with their recent Oxford and Cambridge admissions tests. These were national issues, experienced by candidates across the UK. Technical disruptions impacted the tests which were taken online, in particular the Math Admissions Test (MAT) and the English Literature Admissions Test (ELAT).

Gower College Swansea A Level and L3 vocational results 2023

Students at Gower College Swansea are celebrating a strong set of A Level and vocational Level 3 results again in 2023. The overall A Level pass rate is 98%, with 1391 separate exam entries. Of these passes, 35% are at grades A*-A, 60% are at A*-B and 82% are at A*-C.

Our AS Government and Politics students recently visited London where they took in some very famous sights. It was an action-packed day. Setting off from Swansea at 5.30am, the students visited the UK Supreme Court and enjoyed a walking tour of Whitehall.
