College celebrates Diversity Week

Gower College Swansea will host its annual Diversity Fayres on Tuesday 21 October (Tycoch campus - main hall) and Thursday 23 October (Gorseinon campus - main hall / D4) from 10am to 2pm. There is a packed programme on offer with African drumming, street dance, Indian Bollywood dance, Chinese dance, Capoeira (Brazilian martial arts) and live music and dance performances by students.

Gold award for Hannah's lagoon design

Hannah Davies, a second year A Level Design & Technology student from the Gorseinon campus of Gower College Swansea, has received the British Science Association’s prestigious Gold Crest Award.

Science Academy gets off to a rock and roll start!

Gower College Swansea’s Science Academy got off to a rocking start when Dr Mark Lewney visited the Gorseinon campus. ‘Rock Doctor’ Lewney, winner of the first ever FameLab competition, is a guitar physicist who blows the ears with rock guitar and blows the mind with superstring theory.

A group of AS and A Level Mathematics students at Gower College Swansea have been congratulated after obtaining 100% in one or more modules, including Core Mathematics, Further Pure, Mechanics and Statistics, in their external examinations.

Creative writing competition is a winner

Gower College Swansea has held a creative writing competition to which all AS English students were invited to submit entries consisting of short stories, dramatic monologues or opening chapters. The entries were judged by Jeanne-Marie Williams, English lecturer, who had organised the competition, who was delighted with the standard of work submitted.

Chemistry Olympians receive their awards

Gower College Swansea Chemistry students who competed in the Royal Society of Chemistry’s “Chemistry Olympiad” were presented with their certificates and trophies by Principal, Mark Jones, in recognition of their outstandng achievements.

Translation a success at Gower College Swansea

A Level French and Spanish students at Gower College Swansea have been inspired by a visit from Anna Bastek, CEO of Wolfestone Translation Ltd, who spoke about the exciting opportunities that translation offers. Her speech was described as “inspirational” by one student and the students were all amazed at the career opportunities translation offers.
