Gower College Swansea learners step into the spotlight at Creative Futures eventGower College Swansea hosted an exciting Creative Futures event on Thursday 23 March, bringing together fashion, hair and makeup and music in a showcase. The event took place at Tycoch Campus and was attended by pupils from Bishop Gore School, College learners, parents and guests.

Creative skills under the spotlight for studentsStudents on a range of creative and visual arts courses at Gower College Swansea had a fantastic opportunity to meet with employers and university lecturers during the first ever Design 48 showcase, which was held at the Gorseinon and Llwyn y Bryn campuses. The idea behind Design 48 was developed by the College in partnership with Rachael Wheatley of Waters Creative.
Seven Gower College Swansea learners set to compete at the WorldSkills UK National FinalsAn impressive 130 Welsh competitors have been announced as finalists for the WorldSkills UK National Finals taking place this November, seven of which are from Gower College Swansea! The announcement follows a series of regional competitions that took place across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, hosting a string of talented young people.
Talented artists celebrated at CollegeSome of Gower College Swansea’s most talented learners have competed in the Principal’s Art Prize, a new initiative open to those studying creative subjects at the Gorseinon and Llwyn y Bryn campuses. Taking Gold was Foundation Art and Design student Karen Woods with her thoughtful pastel pencil piece entitled Ethiopian Child.
Impressive Skills medal haul for College studentsGower College Swansea is celebrating after scooping an amazing 20 medals at the recent Skills Competition Wales suite of events. Skills Competition Wales aims to raise the profile of skills in Wales and offers students, trainees and apprentices a chance to challenge, benchmark and raise their skills by taking part in competitions across a range of sectors.
Gower College Swansea students win Pet Pawtrait competitionTwo Gower College Swansea students have been presented with prizes for the under 18 category of the 9to90 Creative Community Pet Pawtrait competition.
Special artwork captures the spirit of Llwyn y BrynArt and Design student Flora Luckman has been commissioned by Gower College Swansea to create a bespoke piece of work that captures the ethos and atmosphere of the Llwyn y Bryn Campus. Flora has recently completed the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at Llwyn y Bryn and is now progressing to the University of Edinburgh to study Illustration.
