Success is sweet for Charlotte
Gower College Swansea Catering student Charlotte Walker has taken Silver at the SkillsCompetition Wales Patisserie final.
Charlotte, who is studying for her VRQ Level 2 Professional Cookery qualification at the Tycoch campus, competed against eight other students on the day.
Catering student success at the Urdd
A Professional Cookery student from Gower College Swansea scooped a top prize at the recent CogUrdd competition held at Ysgol Gyfun Bryn Tawe.
Jacqueline Morgan, who is a Level 3 student at the Tycoch campus, took first prize in the 19-25 category and will now go on to compete in the National Urdd Eisteddfod in Caerphilly in May.
Students prepare a sweet treat for Christmas
Staff and students from Catering and Hospitality have been very busy gearing up for the festive season. Every student in the department is involved with the preparation and service of Christmas lunch and dinner and the annual Christmas Fayre will be the place to purchase our sought after homemade pickles, chutney and puddings.
Global Entrepreneurship Week - where ideas come to life
Staff and students at Gower College Swansea have celebrated Global Entrepreneurship Week with a range of events and activities across the campus.
The week kicked off with a visit by Art and Design students to Swansea Business Gate and the film set of Da Vinci’s Demons, where they learned all about the kinds of employment opportunities that exist in the film and television industry.

College celebrates Diversity Week
Gower College Swansea will host its annual Diversity Fayres on Tuesday 21 October (Tycoch campus - main hall) and Thursday 23 October (Gorseinon campus - main hall / D4) from 10am to 2pm.
There is a packed programme on offer with African drumming, street dance, Indian Bollywood dance, Chinese dance, Capoeira (Brazilian martial arts) and live music and dance performances by students.
Cooking for Camp America
Three Hospitality and Catering students from Gower College Swansea spent time in the United States over the summer.
Steven Williams, Amy Cray and Jake Reed, who are enrolled on the Level 3 Advanced Patisserie and Larder Diploma at the Tycoch campus, spent nine weeks working as chefs at Camp America sites in Pennsylvania and upstate New York.
Kitchen competition heats up for cookery student
Jake Reed, 18 a level 2 Professional cookery student at Gower College Swansea was recently awarded a Silver medal by the Welsh International Culinary Championship judges, for his entry in the Skills Competition at Llandrillo on 25-2-14. Jake was required to complete the following in three hours:
Pudding on a good show
A Gower College Swansea student was awarded a bronze award for his Patisserie skills in the final of the Skills Wales Patisserie competition, held in Carmarthen on March 12th.
