Singer / songwriter performs special gig for students

Singer / songwriter – and star of BBC’s The Voice – Bronwen Lewis recently visited Gower College Swansea’s Tycoch campus.

Bronwen met with Hair and Beauty students before performing a selection of numbers from her new album, Pureheart.

Annual Student Conference 2015

Around 100 learners from Gower College Swansea attended the recent Annual Student Conference at Sketty Hall.

During the day, students took part in various workshops based on the theme of ‘how to succeed at college and in life.’

GCS students take top two places at SkillsCompetition Wales final

Engineering students from Gower College Swansea took the top two places at the recent SkillsCompetition Electronics all Wales final.

Niko Leuchtenberg and Matthew Sutch, who are studying towards the Level 3 Diploma in Engineering (Digital Technology) at the Tycoch campus, scooped Gold and Silver respectively at the event at Coleg Cambria.

Music students take top prizes at SkillsCompetition Wales regional heat

Bands comprising Level 3 Vocational Music students from Gower College Swansea swept the board at the recent SkillsCompetition Wales Popular Music regional heat.

The students, from the Extended Diploma course at the Llwyn y Bryn campus, competed against musicians from eight other colleges across Wales, performing two original songs each before a panel of judges.

Just Us - Independent Living Skills students open exhibition of work

In January 2015, Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, as part of its 4Site Secondary School programme, began a ten-week project with a group of students from the Independent Living Skills (ILS) department at Gower College Swansea.

Based at Gower College Swansea’s Tycoch campus, the ILS department offers a range of courses that are tailored to students with specialist learning needs.

Success is sweet for Charlotte

Gower College Swansea Catering student Charlotte Walker has taken Silver at the SkillsCompetition Wales Patisserie final.

Charlotte, who is studying for her VRQ Level 2 Professional Cookery qualification at the Tycoch campus, competed against eight other students on the day.
