Get creative for Adult Learners’ Week 2018!

Gower College Swansea is delighted to be celebrating this year’s Adult Learners’ Week with a series of creative workshops on offer at our Llwyn y Bryn Campus.

The workshops range from drawing and photography, to screen printing and fashion illustration. They are suitable for beginners or those with limited experience of art and design.

All workshops are free and open to those aged 18 and over and will be delivered at our Llwyn y Bryn Campus, 77 Walter Road, Uplands, SA1 4QA.

Workshop 1: Life Drawing

Tuesday 19 June, 10am-12.30pm
Llwyn y Bryn Campus

This workshop, led by Mary Passmore, explores drawing and mark making techniques to develop your observational drawing skills when considering human form.

Workshop 2: Studio Photography

Tuesday 19 June, 1pm-3pm
Llwyn y Bryn Campus

This workshop, led by Natalie Hemingway, will explore the use of low key lighting and shadow to emphasise the graphic form.

Workshop 3: Screen Print for Surface Pattern

Wednesday 20 June, 9.30am-12.30pm
Llwyn y Bryn Campus

In this workshop, led by Coral Williams and Emma Jenkins, you will experiment using both cut stencils and photo sensitive emulsion. A variety of printing finishes including flock and foils will also be explored.

Workshop 4: Contemporary Fashion Illustration

Thursday 21 June, 10am-12.30pm
Llwyn y Bryn Campus

In this workshop, led by Susanne David, you will explore a range of mixed media to produce a contemporary fashion illustration inspired by a current catwalk look. The finished piece will then be transferred onto a tote bag to take away.

Workshop 5: Experimental Textiles

Friday 22 June, 10am-1pm
Llwyn y Bryn Campus

This workshop, led by Rachel Barrett, will encourage you to experiment with a range of mixed media textiles techniques to produce a unique outcome.

Adult Learners’ Week is the UK’s largest annual learning festival, which is now celebrated in over 55 countries worldwide.
