Developing Surface Pattern for Textiles Products

Course Overview

During this ten week course you will explore a range of textiles techniques through a series of classroom based workshops.  Some of the skills you will develop include decorative stitch, weaving, screen printing, batik and shibori.  

You will develop a portfolio of preparatory work based around the textile project brief leading to the construction of a final product.  

You will generate ideas for surface pattern taking inspiration from the local area.

No prior experience is necessary.

Course Delivery

The course is delivered through a series of classroom based workshops where you will be assessed continuously. You will be assessed based on the application of textiles techniques demonstrated during the workshops and your ability to use the necessary tools and materials in a safe and appropriate way.

Progression Opportunities

As well as considering other part time course, there are several full time opportunities including Level 2 Art and Design, Level 3 Art and Design, Foundation Diploma Art and Design and FdA Fashion and Textile Design.
