Course Overview
The level 2 course is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in engineering principles and practical skills. Students will gain hands on experience and theoretical knowledge in areas such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and manufacturing processes.
This one year course has been designed to give you knowledge and practical skills in the following areas:
- Welding
- Fabrication
- Lathe work and turning
- Milling
- Drilling
- Pneumatics
- Engineering drawing
- CAD
- Testing and inspection
- Non destructive testing.
It includes a variety of practical units giving you an opportunity to find what areas of engineering suit you best.
Entry Requirements
Four GCSEs at grade D plus a C in either English or Maths.
Course Delivery
The course is assessed by compiling a portfolio of evidence consisting of underpinning knowledge questions and observations of practical activities.
Progression Opportunities
Progression to the Level 3 Full time programme or the Engineering apprenticeship route and potentially HNC/HND.
