This course is the first module of a two year part-time Certificate in Education course accredited by the University of South Wales.
The module is a stand alone unit which meets the LLUK standards for teachers, trainers and tutors in the Lifelong Learning sector.
It lays a foundation for subsequent work by providing a broad introduction to factors that bring about successful learning in the lifelong learning sector, concentrating on the role of tutor. The module introduces the main principles and methods of learning and involves the student in applying these to the planning and delivery of microteaching (a 30 minute lesson to the class).
The course also examines the roles and responsibilities of practitioners; communication skills and styles of teaching; the use of learning aids and technologies; and gives an introduction to managing learning, assessment and evaluation.
