Sustainable textile design for interiors

Course Overview

During this course you will explore a specialised way of reviving and re-constructing old, pre-loved fabrics by trying practical and traditional methods combined with modern methods. Working to a mandatory course booklet and course brief, you will be creating samples of work which demonstrates the skills you will learn and develop such as, block printing and silk screen printing and using these methods by manipulating the fabric using your very own surface pattern design.

Building a body of developed samples which aim towards some final textiles interior pieces. You will create a surface design which will cover the face of your chosen fabric which you will then up-cycle into house hold things like cushions, tablecloths, place mats, coasters, seat covers etc.

This course will give you easy and effective ways of reviving materials and fabrics into interior pieces, aiding you with life long skills which have sustainability in mind.

Entry Requirements

Agored Level 1 Textile Project: Sustainable textile techniques - desired (would benefit the student) but not required.
Sewing machine skills required.

Course Delivery

The course is based in a fully equipped classroom with resources and onsite facilities. It includes an Agored course booklet which MUST be completed through the duration of the course to achieve the qualification.
