Threading Workshop

Course Overview

Threading is a popular technique of hair removal. It is similar to plucking but instead of using a tweezer it involves the use of anti-bacterial thread. The workshop is about providing threading for hair removal on different areas of the face. This course is perfect for beginners or an industry professional wishing to add threading to their existing services.

Course modules include: 

• Health, safety and hygiene
• Preparation of client and work area
• Client consultation
• Contra-indications and contra-actions
• History of threading
• Threading techniques
• Structure of the hair and skin
• Aftercare advice

Entry Requirements

No formal qualifications are needed, therefore suitable for beginners. Students must be at least 16 years of age, are required to work on each other and should attend wearing minimal amount of makeup and at least 3mm of facial hair.

Course Delivery

Procedures and techniques are demonstrated by the tutor, learners will then practice the techniques demonstrated on their model. Learners will be assessed on their practical techniques and by written assessment.

Progression Opportunities

Students will be able to offer a threading service to their clients. Students may wish to apply for any full or part time beauty course at Gower College Swansea.

The purchase of a student kit is essential to study on this course - the approximate cost of kit (based on 2018 price) is £23

Students will be expected to wear full length black trousers, flat black enclosed shoes and a plain black top or tunic.
