Overview

The IT User award allows learners to develop the skills and knowledge needed to efficiently work with Office 365 programmes such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. The award is accredited by City and Guilds, with learners receiving a certificate upon completion.

The course is for learners who are looking to further their skills and knowledge to carry out advanced tasks and provide solutions through the use of IT tools.

Key information

The learners will be allocated a dedicated tutor/assessor who will work closely with both the learners and employer to ensure the award is suited to individual roles, as well as prior skills and knowledge.

The course is delivered remotely using Microsoft Teams, with face-to-face training available if required. Dates and times for the training will be agreed between the learner and employer to ensure minimum disruption to the organisation.

Units

  • Using email (Outlook)
  • Word processing software (Word)
  • Presentation software (PowerPoint)
  • Spreadsheet software (Excel)

To successfully complete the qualification, learners will create a portfolio of evidence containing documents, emails, spreadsheets and screenshots of the work carried out.

The portfolio will be reviewed during the regular 1-2-1 meetings with tutors/assessors and used for assessment purposes. Gower College Swansea utilises Smart Assessor which is an online assessment management tool enabling provider, learner and employer to effectively track learner progress.
