Important information about our January 2022 open evenings

Gower College Swansea is delighted to offer a series of virtual open evenings in January.

If you are thinking of attending, please register your interest in advance on our dedicated webpage.

The dates are:

Monday 10 January – Gorseinon (virtual) Monday 17 January – Tycoch (virtual) Tuesday 18 January – Llwyn y Bryn (virtual)

All open evenings start at 5.30pm and finish at 7.30pm.

Celebration of Creativity competition for Broadway’s Hairdressing students.

Students from the Level 2 VRQ Diploma in Hairdressing were in full competition mode last week at Broadway’s Hair, Beauty, and Holistic Centre.

Second year students had one hour to plan and produce commercial hairstyle, combining a multitude of technical skills learned during their course.

The competition was designed for the students to demonstrate their skills and creativity within ladies hairdressing and for them to gain experience in competition activity.

College receives Global Excellence Award

Gower College Swansea has received an Education First (EF) High School Global Education Excellence Award for the second time.

The award was presented in recognition of continuing to help students achieve excellent A Level results and progress to some of the UK’s most esteemed universities. 

EF is a renowned global brand in education, therefore this is a great recognition for both the International Office and A Level teaching staff for all their commitment to support students’ success during such challenging times.

Throughout history, the science and maths industries have largely been dominated by men.

Young women have historically tended to stay away from STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects during their school years. This can be down to many things, but one of them is the outdated stereotype that STEM careers are better suited to men.

And as a result, women can often be outnumbered in these industries.
