Gower College Swansea enters new VET partnership in Ghana and Malawi

Gower College Swansea is set to strengthen its ties in Africa by taking part in the VET (vocational education and training) Toolbox II project.

The VET Toolbox II project, funded by the European Union and managed by the British Council in Ghana and Malawi, aims to enhance international cooperation to support demand-driven and inclusive vocational education and training. The project is part of a wider programme being delivered across 11 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa through four other European development agencies, Enabel, Expertise France, GIZ and LuxDev.

College is invited to Number 10 to discuss menopause in the workplace

Gower College Swansea’s Director of HR Sarah King was invited into Downing Street this week (Monday 4 March) to kick off the celebrations for International Women’s Day (IWD) 2024.

Welsh Week at Gower College Swansea

Gower College Swansea held its annual Welsh Week last week, encouraging interaction and cultural engagement among students and staff. It featured a variety of activities celebrating Welsh culture and traditions.

TV personality Tudur Phillips led energetic clog dancing sessions, and students enthusiastically embraced the traditional Welsh dance, fostering a sense of cultural pride whilst also having a lot of fun!

Calling Year 8 Creatives: Showcase your skills at Swansea Arena!

Excitement is brewing as Gower College Swansea gears up for an exciting project in collaboration with the Schools Arts Network. 

The ‘Our Voices’ project aims to empower young talents in the Swansea and Neath Port Talbot regions. Renowned Artist in Residence at the College, Ffion Denman, and dedicated teaching staff have produced a creative toolkit including a captivating series of videos to inspire and guide year 8 pupils in expressing their unique perspectives through art.

GCS Owls set to soar at Epic Lan 41

A special night for our star apprentices, employers and tutors

Gower College Swansea has held a special awards ceremony at Swansea.com Stadium as part of Apprenticeship Week Wales 2024.

The event, which honoured the outstanding commitment and dedication of the College’s apprentices, staff and employer partners from across Wales and England, was hosted by presenter/broadcaster Ross Harries who has been the face of Welsh rugby for more than a decade.

Guest speaker for the night was Lucy Cohen, co-founder and CEO of Mazuma, the first subscription-based accounting service for small and micro businesses.

Creative skills on show for Design 48 event

Students on a range of creative and visual arts courses at Gower College Swansea had a fantastic opportunity to meet with employers and artists during the second annual Design 48 showcase, which was held at the Gorseinon and Llwyn y Bryn campuses.

The idea behind Design 48 was developed by the College in partnership with Rachael Wheatley of Waters Creative.
