College presented with prestigious cyber security award

Gower College Swansea was officially presented with the Gold CyberFirst Award by representatives from CyberFirst and Jisc on Thursday, 25 April.

The award follows the College being recognised for its commitment to inspiring the latest generation of cyber security experts and bridging the cyber skills gap.

College awarded for excellence in cyber security education

Gower College Swansea has become one of the latest education institutions to be awarded a Gold CyberFirst Award for its first-rate cyber security teaching.

The CyberFirst programme is run by the National Cyber Security Centre, part of GCHQ. The programme recognises schools and colleges that can demonstrate a commitment to inspiring the latest generation of cyber security experts and bridging the cyber skills gap.

Designed to empower individuals and improve employability skills for those residing or employed in Swansea, the initiative covers a diverse range of free courses* tailored to meet the evolving demands of the local economy.

Free Saturday Art School at Llwyn y Bryn

School pupils from across the Swansea area are invited to take part in a FREE Saturday Art School programme starting 24 January.

The four-week programme is open to two age groups - ages 11 to 13 and ages 14 to 16.

Pupils will experiment in glass, textiles, wire work, print, painting, digital illustration, photography and sculpture. Working alongside professional artists and designers, they will also have an opportunity to exhibit their own work.

Saturday 24 January to 21 February (four weeks) 10am - 1pm
