Course Overview

The course will give you an introduction to working in the catering / bakery industry. During this short course, you will learn to make a variety of desserts, using traditional methods and techniques. You will learn to prepare a variety of classic and contemporary hot and cold desserts, using traditional methods. Items may include steamed puddings, roulades, cheesecakes and fruit and mousse based desserts.

Entry Requirements

You must have a keen interest to work in the catering / bakery industry. You may be working in the industry and feel the need to improve your skills.

Course Delivery

There are no formal assessments. You will be observed throughout the sessions and receive verbal feedback at the end of each lesson. Recipes will be provided, which you are encouraged to retain in the form of a small portfolio.

Progression Opportunities

You could progress onto a full time course. You may choose to complete another short course, as a natural progression.

Additional Information

You will be required to wear a white coat, hat and steel toe cap shoes (to be supplied by you). Long hair must be tied back and covered with a hairnet. No visible jewellery or piercings will be permitted. No nail varnish / gel nails. Minimal makeup will be permitted. All ingredients will be supplied. However you will need to make a contribution towards ingredients, approximately £7.50 per week.
