Overview

This course will encourage you to experiment and explore through a range of different mediums and processes. You will experience different techniques of mouldmaking and understand the theory of technical aspects. There are opportunities to develop various casting techniques with different materials to include Plaster/Modroc/Resin/Latex/Metal Fillers/Clay/Cement.

During the designated workshops each day you will be able to build up a portfolio of artefacts in mixed media. Process can be layered to achieve a chosen personal project. All aspects of Health and Safety will be addressed. Throughout the course you will be guided and instructed by an experienced tutor. This is an ideal startup course for anyone interested in working in different media and 3D or to build up your skills to support your own practice.

Key information

No previous experience necessary, just an interest in the subject area. Learners would benefit from attending each term to build skills in preparation for the term two and term three courses, although this is not a barrier to attending each term as a standalone course.

The course is delivered over 10 weeks, with one three-hour session per week.

There are several opportunities including other part-time courses, Level 2 Art and Design, Level 3 Art and Design, and the Foundation Diploma Art and Design.

There is a studio fee for this course of £20.
