Transition Support

At Gower College Swansea, we are committed to supporting you every step of the way - before you join us, during your time as a student and as you prepare for life after college.

We know that moving from school to college can feel like a big change, so our Learning Support team works with you, your family, and other professionals to make the process as smooth as possible.

Whether you need advice, extra guidance, or a more personalised plan, we’re here to help you succeed. If you need a more personalised approach, we can provide tailored support throughout the transition process. All decisions about support are evidence-based and agreed at our weekly Access to Education Panel.

Meet our transition team:

  • Sarah Jago – IDP Administrative Officer
  • Sarah Evans – Transition and Review Officer
  • Allison Willock – Transition and Review Officer
  • Tracey Macklin – Transition and Review Officer.

Support in the early days of college

Our team at Gower College Swansea will continue to support you as you settle into College life. We understand that the first few weeks can feel overwhelming, so we’ll work with you to make sure you have the right support in place. This can include:

  • A thorough induction to help you find your way around the College

  • Access to peer mentors or buddies
  • Regular check-ins with the Learning Support Team
  • Support with travel training, if needed
  • Help with organisation, timetables or accessing resources
  • Small group sessions to build confidence and independence.

Our aim is to make your transition as smooth as possible so that you can feel confident, comfortable and ready to succeed.

Support after college

We will also support you as you take your next steps after College by helping with:

  • Multi-agency reviews
  • Referrals to external agencies
  • Advice on Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) and other support for higher education or employment.

At every stage, our goal is to make sure you feel supported, informed and ready for the future.
