Overview

Printmaking is an artistic process that involves transferring images from one surface, such as a plate, block, or screen, onto another surface, most commonly paper or fabric.

This printmaking course is designed for anyone with a passion for art, from beginners to experienced creatives. You will have the opportunity to develop and focus on traditional and contemporary printmaking techniques with support from an experienced tutor and access to a specialist print studio.

Throughout the course, you’ll experiment with a wide range of printmaking processes. Each term introduces new methods and materials, allowing you to build skills progressively and express your own creativity.

Key information

No previous experience necessary, just an interest in the subject area. Learners would benefit from attending each term to build skills in preparation for term two and term three courses, although this is not a barrier to attending each term as a standalone course.

This course is delivered in the art and design studios at our Llwyn y Bryn campus in Uplands, Swansea.

To achieve your qualification, you'll complete a practical booklet of outcomes throughout the course, which will then be assessed. Each term lasts for 10 weeks.

You'll find it beneficial to attend consecutive terms to progressively develop your skills, but you're also welcome to join any term as a complete standalone course.

Progression from any part-time course could offer a pathway to full-time courses in art and design. For adult learners considering a creative career, the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design course could provide a progression route for this.

A studio fee of £30 is payable for each 10 week term.

All work can be collected on completion of booklet.
