Course Overview
This one year course offers students the opportunity to expand their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.
Useful English is taught in realistic situations giving the student opportunity to learn and practice language in everyday life.

Entry Requirements
Students do not require any formal qualifications but students must have a desire to work, be able to travel independently and have an enthusiastic approach to team working.
Pre-intermediate level is required for entry.
Progression Opportunities
This qualification can lead on to Level 1 Skills for Life or equivilant level 1 courses across the college.
Additional Information
Students will need to be able to purchase textbooks and materials e.g. files/paper etc
The course is taught Monday - Friday for 16 hours a week. Modules on English through IT and Citizenship will run along side the Skills for Life Syllabus.
Assessments will be carried out when students have reached the required standards to achieve the City and Guilds Modules. These assessments take the form of speaking and listening exams and reading and writing modules. The speaking and listening exam is a qualification on its own.
For students to achieve the whole qualification it is necessary for all elements to be taken.
