Santes Dwynwen 2023

College celebrates Santes Dwynwen

Last week (Monday 23rd January) the College celebrated the Welsh patron saint for love Santes Dwynwen’s day a little bit different. We decided to award positive, friendly and good news stories by asking staff and learners to nominate a person who has been friendly, loving and shown community spirit over the past year.

Nominators were asked to give a reason as to why they though people deserved this recognition. Reasons given ranged from being kind to a new member of staff when they recently started at the College; volunteering at local foodbanks and helping in disadvantage and homeless communities; welcoming Ukraninan refugees and generally being kind to others.

The range of reasons for nominating individuals just goes to show how varied our College community is, how we should celebrate this diversity and celebrate the good news that can sometimes come out of difficult times. We have celebrated Santes Dwynwen in this way for the past three years, and it has gone from strength to strenght, with the number of people nominated having increased each year.

Anna Davies our Welsh Manager at the College said “I would like to thanks all of those staff members and learners that took the time to nominate all the individuals.  Huge congratulations to everyone who has received a gift, and please know that we as a College are truly thankful for you all do to help others by showing acts of kindness and spreading a positivity across our College and local community. Diolch and a happy St Dwynwen’s day to you all!”
