Overview

Homeware textiles have never been as popular as they are at present. Cushions for the home and the garden are so of the moment. Making your own cushions allows you design items that blend seamlessly with your existing décor, and utilising fabrics from old items you no longer use, but cannot bear to part with, means that these sentimental fabrics can have a new life in your home.

This course, which extends over 10 weekly three-hour sessions, will teach you everything you need to know about cushion making and help you to make a cushion to your own specifications. The skills you will develop include creating the template or pattern, zip insertion, creating buttonholes for fastenings and the sewing skills to assemble the panels into your dream cushion.

You will also receive an introduction to patchwork, applique, embroidery quilting and other decorative techniques to help you design and create cushions that are as individual as you are!

It won’t all be hard work through, as you will meet lots of other like-minded people wanting to learn the same skills as you and there will be lots of tea and coffee breaks so that you can get to know your classmates and make new friends, all in a relaxed and creative environment.
