The course aims to equip learners for esports and media careers or further studies, creating skilled graduates with autonomy, confidence, and practical expertise. 

Level 4 modules include: 

  • Theory, culture and history of esports 
  • Strategies, coaching, competitive play and psychology   
  • Health, fitness & wellbeing in esports   
  • Single player games in esports   
  • Hashtag top content. 

Level 5 modules include: 

  • Multiplayer games design in esports  
  • Islands in the stream   
  • Work based individual project  
  • Event planning (real world live group project)  
  • Professional skills for esports  
  • Your business in esports.

Key information

You must possess one of the following:

  • A Level – DD. 
  • Relevant BTEC Level 3 profile of Merit/Pass or Pass/Pass/Pass. 
  • Welsh Baccalaureate (Welsh Bacc) - Grade C, plus DE at A Level.
  • Access to HE Diploma – Pass with 60 credits overall, including 45 level 3 credits (all passes).

English and Maths or equivalent are desirable. We accept qualifications such as essential skills and access modules at level 2. As a widening participation HE centre that has large numbers of vocational students from non-traditional entry programmes we would be concerned about requesting GCSEs. We do however provide students to resit while they study with us.

Interview may be required. Age and experience can be considered if grade criteria are not met.

Full-time, Monday to Friday.

With a foundation degree in esports, your career progression can unfold across various exciting avenues.

Consider advancing to a full Bachelor's degree in Esports Management, Marketing, or Game Design to deepen your expertise. Pursue specialised certifications to enhance your skills in areas like game development or esports event management. Engage in internships or entry-level roles within esports organizations, gaming companies, or event management firms to gain practical experience. Explore roles such as esports manager, marketing specialist, game designer, or tournament organizer. Stay current with industry trends, build a professional network, and consider leadership roles to propel your esports career forward.

  • Fees for this course are £7,500 per year.

Further information for Wales:

Receive a £1,000 College bursary per year (subject to satisfactory progression) 

There may be additional costs associated with this course, for example: 

  • Travel to and from College, or placement 
  • Photocopying, stationery and equipment costs (e.g. USB sticks) 
  • Printing and binding 
  • Gowns for graduation ceremonies.
