Practical Mechanical Engineering (L2 Performing Engineering Operations)

Course Overview

This one year course has been designed to give you knowledge and skills in the following areas:

  • Welding
  • Fabrication
  • Lathing
  • Milling
  • Drilling
  • Pneumatics
  • Engineering drawing
  • CAD
  • Testing and inspection
  • Non destructive testing.

    It includes a variety of practical units giving you an opportunity to find what areas of engineering suit you best.


Entry Requirements

Four GCSEs at grade D plus a C in either English or Maths.

Course Delivery

The course, which is broadly equivalent to four GCSEs, has been designed with a wide range of units, so that learners can focus on their chosen career or area of interest. The qualification structure is designed to give learners the opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes.
