Course Overview
This course offers the opportunity for students to develop personal, social and independent living skills. Students will be fully supported throughout the college day, to include lunch and breaks.
Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements for this course. Students who apply will be invited to attend an informal interview and complete an initial assessment.
Course Delivery
Students on this course will be working towards an ASDAN qualification. Subjects within this qualification may include cookery, IT, sport, numeracy, literacy, art and craft, horticulture, community studies, personal skills, personal safety and health and well-being.
On a Friday afternoon, students will have the opportunity to select an enrichment activity for their electives - this may include gardening, dance, beauty, IT, sport, art, shopping and singing. During all lessons, focus will be placed upon acquiring and developing the students' skills in communication, literacy, numeracy and ICT.
Students will also have the opportunity to participate in weekly lessons within the community such as educational visits and social activities.
There are no formal examinations in this course. Students will be assessed through practical activities - they will also be expected to complete various portfolio evidence in order to achieve their ASDAN qualification.
Progression Opportunities
After successful completion of the Skills for Adulthood course students will be interviewed and their progression discussed.
