This two year course is ideal if you have a strong interest in sport science and developing an athlete’s ability through analysis and research studies. Areas of study can include:
- Exercise physiology
- Sport psychology
- Sports nutrition
- Sports research
- Sports injuries.
Elements of this course can be delivered through the medium of Welsh.

Seven GCSEs at grade C or above to include English, Maths and Double Science. Equivalent subjects considered at Distinction grade.
Assessment is through ongoing projects and practical assignments. In the final year students will work on a major project involving research activities.
All students take part in work experience programmes.
Staying with GCS, you could progress on to the Foundation Degree in Sports Development and Management
This qualification will provide the foundation for studying at degree level in preparation for developing a career in sport science related occupations such as psychologist, biomechanist, nutritionist, kinaesiologist, sports therapy and physiotherapy. It would also be appropriate for students interested in PE teaching.

Students on this course will be charged for a DBS check which costs £40.
Students are required to purchase a college T-shirt, polo and hoodie at a cost of £70.
Students will have the opportunity to purchase a college tracksuit and sports related kit linked to the sport of their choice.
Minimal costs may be required for local educational visits.
