FE Multisport Duathlon 2025

FE Multisport Duathlon 2025 – a fantastic run in the sun!

Staff and students from Gower College Swansea braved the heat and sunshine to take part in the fourth FE Multisport Duathlon at Pembrey Country Park.

This fantastic event is part of Colleges Wales FE Multisport initiative and gives people of all fitness levels an opportunity to participate in competitive and active events.

Participants ranged from Independent Living Skills (ILS) learners enjoying a group activity challenge for the first time through to students and staff competing at elite level.

With over 40% of participants having additional learning needs, the Duathlon provides a fully inclusive approach to further education sport.

This year, 36 members of staff entered the Duathlon and there were some fantastic results in the afternoon competitive event, with Sion Cairns from Sport and Public Services taking second place and Gerard Morgan from Engineering coming in third.

Special mention must go to lecturer Laura Borelli who took time out of her maternity leave to participate – Laura was the fastest female runner on the day and was closely followed by work placement officer Sherelle Jermin.

Feedback from staff was very positive - “Absolutely fantastic day” - “Thank you, I loved it” - “Awesome day, my tutor group had an epic time too”.

Congratulations to all who entered and thanks to everyone who cheered them on - here’s hoping to see even more staff and learners at next year’s event!
