Nadine receives national recognition

A Gower College Swansea student has been highly commended at the Pearson Annual Awards. Nadine Bellamy was nominated by her tutor, Tina Isaac, for the national Pearson Vocational Learner of the Year Award. Nadine was one of hundreds of students nominated and was shortlisted to the final stage, receiving a Highly Commended certificate within the category.

Nadine Bellamy joined Gower College Swansea four years ago, starting on a Level 1 Childcare course, then progressing onto Level 2, and is currently completing her Level 3 National Certificate in Children’s Care, Learning and Development. Tina Isaac stated that ”Nadine has been an exemplary student and is very highly thought of by her teaching staff and peers. In addition to her college work, Nadine has completed over 1000 hours of vocational placement experience in various early years settings within the Swansea area. During these hours she has proved herself to be a natural with children and has become a professional and competent member of each setting’s team.”

Principal, Mark Jones, joined Nadine, her peers and teaching team at a presentation to celebrate this achievement where he presented her with a certificate. He also congratulated the whole year group on their endeavour and considerable achievements. In addition to the quality of their coursework, they had also received excellent reports on the professionalism they had displayed while undertaking work experience in various placements during the year. The Principal also commended their efforts in organising events to raise money for charity.
