Soprano delivers audition master class

A Level Music students at Gower College Swansea were treated to a recent master class with internationally renowned soprano Eiddwen Harrhy.

“Eiddwen is an amazing talent and it was our privilege to welcome her to the college, where she spent time with students who will soon be auditioning for highly competitive Conservatoire places across the UK,” says Learning Area Manager David Lloyd Jones.

Before her retirement, Eiddwen was a Professor of Vocal Studies at the Royal College of Music, where she was also on the audition panel. She has also been a visiting Professor at Indiana University and has held teaching posts at Conservatoires across Europe, including Helsinki, Berlin and Prague.

“Eiddwen’s amazing career has spanned over 40 years, 20 of which were spent teaching – so there really is no-one better to guide our students as they prepare for their auditions,” adds David. “We are all extremely grateful to her for supporting the college in this way and we look forward to her return later in the year, when she will hear the students perform their chosen pieces.”
