Sporting success celebrated at awards ceremony

Students from Gower College Swansea have celebrated an exceptionally successful sporting academic year.

“2016/17 has seen some amazing achievements by our students across all levels of sport,” says Learning Area Manager, Marcus Westmoreland. “Highlights include our premier football squad becoming British Cup finalists and Welsh Cup winners; over 50 boys from our Rugby Academy registering with the WRU in both the 1st and 2nd XV; our Netball Academy being crowned both Welsh Colleges winners and Swansea Senior Team of the Year; and nine players from our Hockey Academy being selected to represent Welsh Colleges.”

“Over 30 students from Gower College Swansea qualified to represent the region at the AoC Sport National Championships earlier this year and, in April, students from our Football, Coaching & Development Programme course enjoyed a two week training camp with Portuguese football giants, SL Benfica.”

“It’s really important to gather these students together and celebrate what has been an incredible year. We are really proud of their achievements – they’ve been fantastic ambassadors for the college both at home and overseas.”
