Update for students and parents – 30 December 2021

This morning College managers met to discuss the return to College plans for next week.

A number of options were considered in anticipation of the new Welsh Government guidelines, which are expected later today and tomorrow.

Until we receive the updated government advice our most recent plans remain in place and are as follows:

Teaching and learning
There will be no teaching taking place on either Tuesday 4 or Wednesday 5 January.

Arrangements for Thursday 6 and Friday 7 January for all courses (this includes part time, higher education and apprenticeships) will be made on Tuesday morning.

We are aiming to prioritise a return to face to face teaching for all full time 16-18 year old groups in line with Welsh Government guidance.

Exams
All exams, including a small number that are planned for the Tuesday 4 and Wednesday 5 January, will take place in College at the location and time previously advised. 

Possible next steps
We are expecting that there will need to be further changes which may include a possible return to contact groups for all full time students, two metre social distancing, as well as ongoing encouragement to use lateral flow tests regularly.

There may also be restrictions around catering that can be provided, but we will clarify all of this early next week.
