Gower College Swansea is proud to support White Ribbon Day 2025, joining the national movement to end violence against women and girls. This year’s theme, We Speak Up, encourages men and boys to take positive action by challenging harmful attitudes, calling out unacceptable behaviour, and promoting a culture of respect.

A celebration for our 2025 Higher Education graduates
Over 180 higher education (HE) students from Gower College Swansea have marked their academic achievements at a special graduation ceremony at the Swansea Building Society Arena.
The graduates were there to celebrate completing a wide range of higher-level courses including advice and guidance, computing and technology, law and criminology, leadership and management, built environment and marketing.

Former students play key role in Gorseinon redevelopment
Many former students return to Gower College Swansea later in life. Some enrol on part-time evening classes to retrain or pick up a new hobby, while others find themselves walking through the door as parents looking to enrol their children on full-time courses.
But for Owen Rees and Luc Blackmore, it’s a little different again. Both former learners have returned to play a vital role in the £20.6 million redevelopment of the Gorseinon Campus.
Owen is an Associate Director at AtkinsRéalis, a world-class design and engineering services company.

Former student inspires next generation of actors
As part of the College's ongoing Enterprise activities, we were thrilled to welcome back former student Lucy Quick to lead a masterclass and Q&A with current learners at the Gorseinon Campus.
Since studying A Level Drama at the College, Lucy’s career has thrived. Originally training in Musical Theatre, she worked on several West End productions before co-founding her own business – Perform – where she is now Principal.

Gower College Swansea recognised with Beacon Commended Status
Gower College Swansea has achieved Beacon Commended Status in the 2025/26 AoC Beacon Awards, which celebrate excellence and innovation across UK further education.
The College has been recognised for its sector-leading Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy, which has delivered measurable impact for learners and staff. Since 2019, the Wellbeing Team has grown from eight to 28 specialists, making wellbeing a structural priority. Learner participation has risen from 3,158 to 9,530, and staff engagement has increased by 304%.

Student artists give children's unit a colourful new look
Aspiring artists have been brushing up on their skills by sprucing up a new children’s unit in Morriston Hospital.
Students at Gower College Swansea have put their imagination and creativity to the test by giving the Children’s Emergency Unit (CEU) a new look with specific designs for certain areas of the department.
As part of the project, the A-Level art students have been able to use it as a key part of their Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales qualification.

Gower College Swansea wins at the 2025 Wales STEM Awards
Gower College Swansea has been recognised for its contribution to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in Wales, winning the award for Educational Programme of the Year (Public Sector).
The winners of the Wales STEM Awards 2025 were announced at a prestigious awards ceremony hosted by broadcaster Lucy Owen. Held at the Mercure Holland House Hotel in Cardiff, the event celebrated outstanding achievements across STEM, recognising the trailblazing individuals and organisations driving innovation and making significant contributions to the sector in Wales.
Best Newcomer award for Tom
A member of Gower College Swansea staff has scooped an award from the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM).
Thomas Maddock, who is an Estates Manager at the College, took home the Newcomer of the Year Award at a glittering ceremony hosted in London by Gabby Logan MBE.
The IWFM is the professional body for workplace and facilities practitioners.
