Winter School - Zhuzhou No.2 Middle School
We were delighted to welcome students from Zhuzhou No. 2 Middle School to Gower College Swansea this February for a Winter School programme, where they shadowed A-Level classes and took part in a range of activities across Swansea and the surrounding areas.
The students expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to sit in on A-Level lessons and experience our learning style, noting the valuable contrast with their home-schooling system.

Building a sustainable future
Students from a range of courses including built environment, geography and geology were recently invited to a talk on The Future of Net Zero Carbon (NZC) at the Gorseinon Campus of Gower College Swansea.
Led by Head of Sustainability at McCann and Partners, Virginia Clement, the talk explored what NZC really means in practice. The session also identified the two main components of NZC (operational carbon and embodied carbon) and outlined the key goals driving the transition to a low-carbon built environment.

Young people encouraged to share views on future of further education
Two representatives from Gower College Swansea recently attended the Cross-Party Group (CPG) on Further Education and Skills, hosted by ColegauCymru | CollegesWales in Cardiff.
Young people from colleges across Wales met with Senedd Members from across the political spectrum and sector leaders at the final meeting of the CPG this Senedd term, which explored post-16 participation and the experiences of learners as they navigate Wales’ evolving tertiary education landscape.

Mix Up! Human Rights Debate
Recently, students at Gower College Swansea were offered a unique opportunity to participate in MixUp!, a digital platform initiative, to debate a series of topics with each event focusing on a specific theme. They engaged with peers from the Netherlands, Finland, France, Italy, Portugal and Spain. This month’s topic was Human Rights, chosen to coincide with the Anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights, which was signed by the UN on 10th December 1948 to prevent atrocities of the Holocaust ever happening again.

Gower College Swansea receives prestigious Princess Royal Training Award at ceremony in London
Yesterday, Tuesday 2 December, Gower College Swansea formally received an esteemed Princess Royal Training Award 2025, in recognition of its Transforming Wellbeing at Work initiative.
Designed in consultation with staff and led by Vice Principal of People and Wellbeing, Sarah King, the programme introduced a three-part approach to menopause awareness across the organisation which included clinical expertise from leading specialists at Newson Health, organisation-wide awareness training and the use of Balance+, a pioneering app which helps staff track and manage symptoms.

Students explore creative and visual arts careers
Gower College Swansea students have had an amazing opportunity to meet with employers and artists during the annual Design 48 showcase.
Held at the Gorseinon and Llwyn y Bryn campuses, Design 48 was developed by the College in partnership with Rachael Wheatley of Waters Creative with the aim of inspiring learners and boosting their employability skills.
It also aims to raise their aspirations and awareness of the wide range of educational and career pathways available to them within the creative industries.

Gower College Swansea appoints Paul Kift as new Principal
Gower College Swansea is delighted to announce the appointment of Paul Kift as its new Principal.
A former student of the College’s Gorseinon Campus, Paul has a long and successful history with Gower College Swansea, having first joined as a Director, then becoming Vice Principal and now taking up the position of Principal.
Before joining the College, Paul held senior management roles in the private and public sector, having worked in roles for Capital Law and Cardiff and Vale College.
