College welcomes new learners – Freshers Fayre 2025

New students at Gower College Swansea have had a chance to find out more about campus life at the 2025 Freshers’ Fayres.

This year, the events shared a theme of ‘Cynefin’ – a sense of belonging in one’s community.

The emphasis was on giving learners the opportunity to find out about support networks available to them at College, and to encourage them to sign up for the many clubs, societies and academies on offer.

“The Freshers’ Fayres are a fantastic opportunity to welcome new students to the College,” says Josh Jordan, the College’s Learner Engagement and Personal Development Lead. “They can get to know each other, pick up useful information and have a go at the many free activities on offer.”

On hand to provide advice and information were representatives from a wide range of College departments including GCS Active; libraries, health advisors, employability, the Sport Centre, sport academies, equality and diversity, the Student Union and Welsh language/culture.

A huge thank you to the following external organisations who supported our Freshers Fayres this year:

Barod – Choices Swansea; Big Swansea Shop; CWM Environmental; EYST; Fast Track; Fertility Network; Hello Asia; Swansea Council - Homelessness Prevention; NUS Cymru; SBUHB Sexual Health Team; Swansea Building Society Arena; Swansea Carers Centre (Young Adult Carers); Swansea Council - Road Safety Team; The Bunkhouse; VOXI; Welsh Blood Service; Barnardos and YMCA.
