Introduction to Lean - Qualification
Overview
Introduction to Lean will provide learners with an overview of the different topics in Lean methodology. The programme supports the underpinning knowledge of Lean, ensuring learners understand the various concepts, therefore allowing them to contribute to the implementation of business improvement within their role. This Level 2 qualification is suitable for those looking to develop Lean thinking skills and knowledge.
The programme is delivered as a stand-alone qualification that can be fully-funded by the Welsh Government. It can be used to upskill new or existing staff.
To successfully complete the qualification, learners will undertake a pre-selected project improvement task. They will acquire the knowledge, tools and techniques associated with each unit that they will then implement in their current work environment. The project, work assigned and evidence gathered will be reviewed during the regular group and 1-2-1 meetings with tutors/assessors, and used for assessment purposes.
Gower College Swansea utilises Smart Assessor, which is an online e-portfolio management tool enabling provider, learners and employer to effectively track learner progress.
Key information
The learners will be allocated a dedicated tutor/assessor, who will work closely with both the learners and employer to ensure the qualification is suited to their individual roles and organisational priorities. Learners will be expected to attend seven workshops to develop the necessary skills and Lean thinking knowledge, as well as complete a pre-determined portfolio.
The portfolio will be designed around completing project work set to their elected units to demonstrate the application of their new skills.
