Overview
BPEC Heat Pump Systems is suitable for building service engineers, where learners will develop and demonstrate the knowledge and skills required to install, commission, inspect, service and maintain non-refrigerant heat pump systems in a domestic scale environment.
Upon successful completion, learners can become MCS accredited or join a competent person’s scheme to register installations.
Key information
Learners are required to provide evidence of competence in:
- Water regulations/Water byelaws (WRAS, BPEC, ERC or equivalent)
- Unvented domestic hot water storage systems (UVDHW) (ERS, BPEC or equivalent)
- Energy efficiency for domestic heating (City and Guilds 6084 or equivalent)
- Heating installers with minimum three years of experience installing wet central heating system, shown either by manufacturer courses certification or Gas Safe register, OFTEC, MCS, HETAS registration
Learners must also provide evidence of competence in one of the following:
- N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing or equivalent earlier certification, or N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Heating and Ventilating (Domestic Installation) or equivalent earlier certification
- N/SVQ in Heating and Ventilating (Industrial and Commercial Installation) or equivalent earlier certification
- N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Oil Fired Technical Services or equivalent earlier certification
- N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Gas Installation and Maintenance of equivalent earlier certification
A short interview may be required with the tutor of the course.
The course will be delivered over four days, including one assessment day at Gower College Swansea’s Energy Centre, based at Tycoch Campus.
- BPEC Solar Thermal Hot Water Systems (NOS Mapped)
The course will be assessed through a multiple-choice online examination, as well as practical instruction and assessment.
The course fee is £650, which includes course registration, manual and certification.
It is essential learners bring a form of photogenic ID on the day of the examination, failure to do so may result in you being unable to sit the exam.
