Course Overview
The aim of this qualification is to provide the learner with the skills and knowledge to cut men's hair into basic looks and maintain facial hair shapes using basic cutting techniques (beards and moustaches).
The skills developed by the learner will include the use of scissors, clippers and attachments - also cutting techniques such as scissor / clipper overcomb, club cutting and freehand.
Learners will also achieve related units in:
- Styling men's hair
- Shampooing and conditioning
- Health and safety
- Working in the hair industry
- Consultation
- Promoting Products and Services

Entry Requirements
The course is suitable for students who have no experience in hairdressing / barbering and wish to develop those skills.
ESOL students - Level 1 qualification
Level 1 qualifications or GCSE equivalents.
Course Delivery
The course will involve practical skills development on practice heads and assessments on clients. There will also be theory input and a range of written assessment tasks / online exams.
Progression Opportunities
Progression onto other related courses (both full and part time) in hairdressing, beauty therapy and holistic therapies.
Additional Information
Course cost is TBC.
There will be an additional kit cost TBC and £10 cost for portfolio material.
