College welcomes local schools for chef roadshow

120 school students from six Swansea schools enjoyed a hospitality taster day at Gower College Swansea on Tuesday 14 March.

The special occasion, organised by The Chefs’ Forum and free to attend, enabled the College to host school students and give them a ‘taste’ of what to expect from a catering course.

“We call it an insight into the world of the hospitality industry,” said Chefs’ Forum Director Catherine Farinha. “We had a brilliant line up of chefs and front of house professionals and the students lapped it up!”

College catering alumni returns to College

Catering students and staff welcomed back catering alumni, Nick Jones, to the College to showcase his culinary skills to the catering students.

Nick, who started his journey at the College studying Level 1 Diploma in Introduction to Professional Cookery and finished at Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Professional Cookery (Kitchen and Larder), did a cooking demonstration with students through The Chefs’ Forum Academy.

Celebrity chef gives students a taste of culinary career

An iconic British chef gave a group of students from Gower College Swansea a sneak peek behind the scenes of his Swansea restaurant along with an insight into his inspiring career.

Marco Pierre White, who last year opened his Steakhouse Bar & Grill at the J-Shed in SA1, met up with four of the College’s Catering and Hospitality students earlier this week.

Mr Pierre White held an informal discussion with the students about his career, the industry and provided invaluable hints and tips of the trade.
