Students talk politics with The Lord Aberdare

Students from Gower College Swansea recently had the opportunity to meet The Lord Aberdare – Alastair John Lyndhurst Bruce – when he visited the Gorseinon Campus as part of the Learn with the Lords programme.

The learners, who are studying A Level Government and Politics and A Level Law, spent over an hour with The Lord Aberdare and had an opportunity to discuss many pressing political topics of the day with him.

Students inspired to aim for top universities

Hundreds of young learners were recently invited to attend the launch of the Swansea Seren Hub for 2022/23, where they were able to find out more about the skills needed to apply to the UK’s top universities.

The event, led by Gower College Swansea and Swansea University, was held at the Great Hall on the University’s Bay Campus. It was attended by around 350 students from the College and local sixth form schools, many of whom were joined by their parents and guardians.

From the Bridge to HE!

It’s always great to hear stories of progression throughout the College and this one is truly amazing!

Back in 2017, Emma Hill was at risk of becoming NEET so she joined our Bridge programme while she thought about which career pathway she wanted to follow. After completing the Bridge course with a DM grade profile, she progressed firstly onto L2 Health and Social Care, and then L2 Engineering Technologies.
